Hi friends! Since this is the weekend after Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all of you. Thanks to each of you who have shared your story with Draw Near to Me or shared one of these stories that has touched your hearts with someone else.
Today will be short. Next week we will continue with part 3 of Ron’s faith journey.
I wanted to share one thought, one prayer, and one blessing.
One thought:
How often do we truly have gratitude for all the things that God has provided us? There are so many things that we take for granted in our everyday life. To some degree, I think we almost become numb to the daily blessings that He gives. A great example we can all relate to is when we get a cold. Yuck! But how many of us take note of that first day where we can breathe normally and freely again? I know I find that so exciting, but what about all the other days where we are healthy and breathe without problems? Do we wake up and thank God for that blessing?
Our minds can quickly forget all the big and small ways in which we are blessed. So, the thought I wanted to share revolves around a statement that I heard once. It was something along the lines of, “What if you woke up tomorrow and the only things you had were the things you thanked God for the day before?” That was a wake-up call for me. It made me realize how extremely blessed I was and how much gratitude that I had left unspoken for the things in my life. In no particular order, my mind went to my relationship with God, people I love, health, the ability to see and appreciate the beautiful colors around me, all the senses really, experiencing stability but also new adventures sprinkled into life, community, clean water, birds in the sky, plants all around us, food to eat, a mind that is clear, laughter, love, peace, and so much more. It seemed endless. So, in this season of Thanksgiving, I would challenge all of us to take a moment and really sit in the blessings that we often forget.
One prayer:
Our Father, I thank you that every single one of us, no matter how near or far to you, are your children. That there is nothing that is so great or deep or challenging that you cannot reach us. Thank you that you pursue us in your endless love that is vast, rich, and beyond measure. Thank you that your faithfulness is never shaken, no matter how often or how far we wander and how faithless we can be at times. Thank you that you move even in the things that we cannot see, that your timing is perfect, and that even in the moments where our hearts may be broken, you have never let go for a moment. Thank you Abba that you love us so well. In Jesus name, Amen.
One blessing:
May you be blessed with the ability to receive God’s love today and to see yourself as He sees you. May that love radiate through you in a way that warms your heart and awakens your very spirit. May you know you were intentionally created for a plan and a purpose, that you are deeply treasured, and you are God’s beloved. You are His.
Next week we will resume with Ron’s faith journey. Have a wonderful day!
